App Development
The App Development online internship at Indrobeams is a remote, milestone-based program. Students build real deliverables covering Flutter & Dart, React Native & Expo, Riverpod / Provider / Zustand, complete projects over 4, 8, or 12 weeks, receive human mentor code reviews, and earn a QR-verifiable certificate for ₹149 upon review approval with zero upfront tuition fees.
Who this internship is for
- Computer Science, Mobile Computing, and IT students wanting to build production-grade iOS and Android applications.
- Web developers wanting to expand into mobile app development with Flutter/Dart or React Native.
- Engineers who want to master real device hardware integration, offline database syncing, and mobile release pipelines.
Tools & Tech Stack
Industry-standard developer tooling used across milestone tasks:
What you will build week by week
Mobile UI Layouts & Responsive Navigation Flows
Construct a cross-platform mobile app interface with bottom navigation tabs, stack routing, safe-area insets, and dark/light theme switching.
- Pixel-accurate mobile UI matching modern Material Design 3 or iOS Human Interface Guidelines.
- Proper handling of device safe areas, status bars, and on-screen keyboards without RenderFlex overflow errors.
- Screen recording or high-resolution screenshots showcasing fluid screen transitions.
State Management & Offline Local Storage
Implement structured state management (Riverpod/Provider or Redux/Zustand) and offline persistence with SQLite or Hive so user data persists across app restarts.
- Predictable state architecture separating UI presentation from business logic.
- Local database persistence for user data, allowing full CRUD operations while in airplane mode.
- Unit or component tests validating state transitions and database query results.
REST API Integration, Error Boundaries & Media Uploads
Connect mobile screens to an external REST API with asynchronous fetch, loading skeletons, error snackbars, and device camera/gallery permissions.
- Network layer with interceptors for auth tokens, timeout configurations, and graceful offline fallback.
- Native permission handling for camera or photo gallery access with clear user rationale dialogues.
- Loading skeletons and pull-to-refresh interactions on all data-driven lists.
End-to-End Demo Build & Release Readiness Package
Generate an installable release APK or TestFlight build. Configure app launcher icons, splash screen, and create a 2-minute video walkthrough showcasing user flows.
- Configured application metadata: custom app bundle ID, branded launcher icon, and splash screen.
- Signed release APK or web-hosted Expo snack demonstrating the complete application workflow.
- (Optional stretch milestone): Automated widget or integration test suite.
Example projects you will ship to GitHub
Rather than generic tutorial clones, your portfolio will showcase complete, production-ready software systems:
Offline-First Personal Finance & Expense Tracker
A mobile application allowing users to log transactions offline with SQLite, categorize spending, and visualize budget limits.
Campus Events & Student Marketplace App
A cross-platform mobile community board with image upload capabilities, real-time search, and bookmarking.
Habit Tracker & Productivity Streak Companion
A responsive mobile utility with local daily reminders, streak calculation algorithms, and dark mode theming.
How human code reviews work
We don't use automated quizzes. Every milestone submission is inspected by human mentors who provide line-by-line engineering feedback:

Frequently Asked Questions: App Development
Can I choose between Flutter and React Native?+
Yes. You are free to build using either Flutter (with Dart) or React Native (with TypeScript/Expo). Our evaluators review code in both ecosystems against standard mobile engineering rubrics.
Do I need a Mac to complete this track?+
No. A Windows or Linux PC is completely sufficient. You can test and compile Android APKs using Android Studio or run your React Native app via Expo Go on your physical Android or iOS smartphone.
How do evaluators test my mobile app submission?+
You will submit your GitHub repository, a signed release APK (for Android) or Expo Snack link, and a 2-minute screen recording demonstrating the core user flows and offline functionality.
Is backend development required for this mobile track?+
No custom backend is required. You can connect your app to free public REST APIs (such as OpenWeather, TMDB, or JSONPlaceholder) or use Supabase / Firebase for quick cloud authentication.
What happens if I get a RenderFlex overflow on small screens?+
Layout overflows are the most common mobile bug. Evaluators will provide specific tips (e.g. wrapping in SingleChildScrollView or using Flexible/Expanded widgets) so you can fix and resubmit.
Can I publish the completed app to Google Play or Apple App Store?+
Yes. The code is 100% yours. The final milestone prepares release-ready assets so you can upload your application to the Google Play Console or Apple App Store whenever you wish.
